American Education Week starts next Monday, November 18th. Each day is dedicated to a different group of special people who have positively impacted students and their achievement. Anyone is invited to visit the school on any day. A photo ID is required upon entry into the building. Thank you to everyone for their role in educating our students.
The awards keep coming at WTHS. Congratulations to Marcus Sykes for being awarded the Malco Head of the Class Award. This is a huge honor. The award comes with tools and other career specific merchandise. Marcus is an advanced welder and demonstrates excellence every day in the highly skilled work that he does. Becky Tetter from the student services department at University of Maryland College Park's institute of applied agriculture visited with students and shared how students could earn a degree in the several programs they offer and the careers those degrees pipeline into. Teaching Academy of Maryland (TAM) students are taking the ParaPro exam today. This is a high stakes assessment that allows students to secure jobs in the educational system. This is the LARGEST group of students taking the ParaPro in WTHS history! Great job to instructor Diane Carey, Counselor Mary Shockley, and IT Specialist Drew Carey. Good luck students!
Simply unbelievable! WTHS strikes again! A big shout out to the FFA Chapter at Worcester Tech under the leadership of Jesse Flores. Our students swept states and regionals and went on to win bronze in public speaking at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis. Check out the WMDT interview with Hailey Renshaw and Andy Maynard. The WTHS Biomedical Science Program implements state of the art equipment. The Anatomage Table is the most advanced real-human-based medical education system. This state-of-the-art platform offers digitized human cadavers and superior medical learning tools, transforming medical education and training. Joe Miller and Bill Severn are taking their students to new levels never seen before!
Masonry students under world class instructor Rob Land learn how to "butter bricks" and operate machinery. Students are honing their skills as they gear up for SkillsUSA competitions in the new year.
CSI meets Worcester Tech! Students in Mike Levy's Criminal Justice Program experience hands-on, real-world crime scene investigative techniques. No other CJ program in the state operates on a level like this! Great job!
Congratulations to our 22 SkillsUSA officers on their performance at the Fall Leadership Conference in Ocean City. All students were awarded either the Statesman Award or the Advanced Statesman Award. Worcester County represented in a big way!
