Attention WCPS families: As temperatures remain low, WCPS wants to remind our students and their families to be safe near bodies of water that form ice this time of year. Remember, the ice on ponds, storm water retaining areas, and canals is never strong enough to allow any human to walk on them. Keep the below safety tips in mind for winter water safety.
• Do not walk, skate, or play on frozen bodies of water. A good rule to follow is there is no such thing as a sate thickness of ice in our area.
• Keep pets and children away from ice-covered bodies of water.
Animals are particularly at risk of falling through thin ice.
• Educate children. Tell kids about the dangers of playing near frozen bodies of water and reinforce the importance of never venturing out on the ice.
• Report dangerous conditions. If you see anyone venturing onto the ice, immediately call 91l and inform local authorities.

Over 30 students from our distinguished Detective Mike Levy's criminal justice program took the Ocean City Police Department Entrance Exam today. It's great to see so many students engaging in a way that can positively impact the overall health and quality of our community. Thank you OCPD for coming out to proctor the exams and for believing in our students!

WTHS Hospitality Program, under master designer Caitlin Evans, has been busy transforming the space for the holidays. A shout out to Lindsey Reed for the oversized origami Marlin on the tree. Happy Holidays!

WTHS Nursing students under Dr. Penny Makuchal learn about coronal polishing and how to remove extrinsic stains from teeth caused by coffee and other substances. From blood pressure to teeth, these students are getting a world class education in our Nursing Program.

WTHS Engineering students in Aarti Sangwan's AP Physics class use formulas to calculate volts per hertz ratios in order to determine angular velocity. And how do they do this? Flying Pigs!

Sylvia Gallo and the WTHS Engineering students visited NASA Wallops and got the VIP tour! Students visited the flight facility, launch pads, range and mission management control room, and balloon program. Thank you Pat Benner and Joyce Winterton for the intimate tour and a shout out to our two WCPS-WTHS alumni who are working in high profile positions at NASA. NASA is hiring and we need our WCPS graduates working there!

Students in aerospace engineering are learning all about lift and drag. They are using an airfoil simulator to investigate the effect of airfoil shape and angle of attack. Next they will be using the geometry data to model their airfoil in 3d software and test in a wind tunnel.
Full circle projects allow the students to connect what they learn about with testing done in the industry

A big shout out to our November Students of the Month. Yulia Selikhova and Dae'Marion Miller represent WTHS as the top two students and top 1% because of their scholarship and aptitude in their respective programs. Congratulations and keep blazing your trails!

Thank you to the Ocean City Lions Club for your support of our SkillsUSA organization and students. Your partnership provides opportunities for our students who get top results. WTHS SkillsUSA students had more gold medal at nationals than any other district in Maryland. Thank you OC Lions!

There are HVAC classes and then there are Jonathan Hillman HVAC classes! Students are busy learning how to rebuild air handlers, repair heat pumps, and install furnaces and all of this in the first 10 weeks of school! Now that's unheard of. Shout out to the students on wanting to learn the craft!

A shout out to the Ocean City Hotel Motel and Restaurant Association. A great dinner meeting that featured speakers from Junior Achievement, Chef Phill Cropper and Coordinator Dr. Brian Phillips from WTHS, and Wor-Wic Community College. The pipeline that connects middle school to high school and college works, and it is great to see the community support in our great Ocean City and Worcester County.

Dr. Makuchal and her nursing students are learning one of the more difficult skills in the business: taking accurate blood pressure readings. In today's challenge, independent groups of students had to take their administrators' BPs without sharing readings and come out with the same exact numbers- which they did! Great job to our students and a shout out to Dr. Makuchal.
