WTHS hosted the 2025 local SkillsUSA competitions this weekend. So many talented students came out to compete in a variety of events. Congratulations to our students. Everyone who came out challenged him or herself pushing the boundaries of their technical, workplace, and personal skills. Regionals is on 2/19 and then off to States in March. Everyone keep grinding!
IMPORTANT: Due to impending inclement weather, WCPS will close three hours early on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. Buses will operate accordingly. All afterschool, evening, and adult education classes are also cancelled. Please note that WTHS AM classes will continue as scheduled.

Today at Worcester Technical High School, I had the honor of presenting Superintendent Challenge Coins to Jaylin Q., Zoey R., Hope C., and Keira L., students in Dr. Makuchal's nursing program. These remarkable young women went above and beyond, embodying our Worcester County Public Schools' motto, "People Make the Difference", while providing compassionate hospice care after school. WTHS students ACED their Adobe Professional Licensure Test in Alex Sousa's Interactive Media & Production program. This is a big deal folks! These students are passing industry recognized licensure tests and are growing to become both college and CAREER ready! Great job to our students and to Ms. Sousa!

SkillsUSA Week is celebrated in February each year in SkillsUSA chapters nationwide. The event offers state associations, advisors and student members the opportunity to promote SkillsUSA programs and activities at the local and state levels while highlighting the importance of the skilled trades.
The NEST early childcare center is a hidden gem in Worcester County. Early Childhood Education students under Instructor Diane Carey work collaboratively with Nest Director Melissa Holter to gain experience and internship hours that materialize into a Child Development Associate certification. Here, WTHS students participate in story time- reading high interest books with our youngsters in the center. Thank you to the Nest staff for providing these valuable opportunities for our students. This place is LEGIT!

WTHS students in Penny Makuchal's nursing program are busy creating news letters and other public relations materials to educate the general public about different health facts and issues ranging from kidney health to the importance of potassium in your diet. It is a good thing we can count on these students as the next generation of caretakers. They are ready for the challenge and responsibility! Great job students!
Student of the Month Benjamin Chase took the school by surprise when he showed up to school in English instructor Tara Threadgill's program with his latest creation: a hand made board game about Shakespeare's Macbeth. The game features 3-D printed player pieces, a detailed rule manual, and a hand crafted playing board all designed and produced by Ben! Wow! This student is beyond legit! Amazing!
WTHS is full of so many talented students showcasing skills in a variety of ways. Students in Alex Sousa's Interactive Media and Production program created a variety of high quality art pieces for submission at the 2025 High School Art Show and Competition. Wow! Good luck to our students at this year's competition!
