Worcester Technical High School (WTHS) of Worcester County Public Schools, Maryland is a partnership program between University of Maryland Extension and the WTHS Agriculture Program. This project is to allow animal science students how to care for, feed, manage, and help the does (momma goats) kid out (give birth). Students will provide proper nutrition and health checks throughout the project. Many of the student in the WTHS agriculture program have career goals of studying veterinarian science after graduation. Special thanks to the WTHS school IT Department & Digital Audio Program for assisting the Agriculture Program to allow viewers to join in the fun!

Did you know... - The scientific name for goats is Capra circus - It is normal for does to have twins or triplets every time they give birth. - The act of giving birth is called "kidding." - Goats are RUMINATES which means they have four compartments in their stomach (there is no such thing as 4 stomachs in an animal). - When expecting birth signs to look for include softening above the tail head, stretching while laying down, dropped low abdomen. Teats may wax up or drip milk right before birth.

IF VIEWERS NOTICE A GOAT IS GIVING BIRTH OR SOMETHING IS OF CONCERN FOR THE HEALTH OF THE ANIMALS, CONTACT VIA CALL OR TEXT MESSAGE MRS. FLORES AT ‪(302) 466-5299.
