Inclement Weather Fast Facts
Attention WCPS families: With temperatures low, WCPS wants to remind our students and their families to be safe near bodies of water that form ice this time of year. Remember, the ice on ponds, storm water retaining areas, and canals is never strong enough to allow any human to walk on them. Keep the below safety tips in mind for winter water safety.

• Do not walk, skate, or play on frozen bodies of water. A good rule to follow is there is no such thing as a sate thickness of ice in our area.
• Keep pets and children away from ice-covered bodies of water.
Animals are particularly at risk of falling through thin ice.
• Educate children. Tell kids about the dangers of playing near frozen bodies of water and reinforce the importance of never venturing out on the ice.
• Report dangerous conditions. If you see anyone venturing onto the ice, immediately call 91l and inform local authorities.

Here, students are inserting an ornate wood inset within the table after designing and creating the table. Great job team!

WTHS had a great evening as we hosted and met with over 300 families at our annual Stem & Trades night. We want all students to explore the programs offered at WTHS and choose to participate in one that interests them. There are many options to choose from. Students can start in grades 9, 10, 11, or 12 depending on the program. WTHS announces our 2026 Teacher of the Year: Patricia Hands. Ms. Hands is one of our all-star cosmetology teachers. Our cosmetology program has a 100% success rate where EVERY student successfully earns a Maryland state cosmetology license which is the highest rate in the state. So many of her former students have successful cosmetology careers, and many former students own their own businesses. Ms. Hands and other teachers of the year will go on to compete for the Worcester County TOY in March. Good luck Ms. Hands. WTHS is so proud of you!
