As American Education Week kicks off on Monday, November 17th, so too does the 2026 Worcester County Teacher of the Year Program. Folks, it is time to nominate a teacher for this school year's distinguished honor. Students, parents, and school staff are all invited to nominate a teacher. There are two ways you can nominate a teacher: 1) complete a nomination form and submit it to the school's main office, or 2) scan the QR code and fill out the online fields and submit it. This QR code is directly linked to Worcester Tech but the nomination form can be used to nominate a teacher at any school. Nominations do not open until Monday, November 17th so until then simply relax and get ready. Good luck to all of our teachers!

Congratulations to Worcester Tech instructor Mary Miller – recipient of a $5000 community foundation grant award. Ms. Miller is using the grant award to fund drones and robotic equipment for her robotics clubs at the middle and high school levels. Ms. Miller has had a lot of success with her students transferring their robotics knowledge over to SkillsUSA where her students compete at high levels at state and national competitions. Congratulations Mary Miller!

Our WTHS staff was engaged in the Science of Learning Professional Development this afternoon. Our staff puts a lot of thought into strategic lesson planning so that our students are engaged in challenging, real-world, work-related experiences every day. We have such an amazing team of teachers and support staff! We encourage all high school students to take a program at Worcester Tech.

NAPA Auto Parts Donates $15,000 in Supplies to Worcester Technical High School Automotive Program

BERLIN, MD – October 15, 2025 – Worcester Technical High School is proud to announce a significant donation of automotive supplies, valued at $15,000, from NAPA Auto Parts. The donation, which includes essential items such as oils, fluids, and various other shop consumables, will provide a major boost to the students' hands-on learning experience.

The donation was driven by a commitment to supporting the next generation of automotive professionals. It began when Jon Young, NAPA’s Market Director of Store Operations, encouraged store managers to forge local partnerships. Christy Mitchell, manager of the NAPA store in Berlin, MD, recognized an opportunity to help. With several graduates of Worcester County Public Schools on her staff, Mitchell naturally looked to Worcester Technical High School.

"We believe in investing in our local community and the future of the skilled trades," said Mitchell. "Seeing the dedication of the students and faculty at WTHS made this a clear choice. We are thrilled that NAPA was able to provide these essential materials."

Mitchell coordinated the substantial donation with support from Bill Harper, Regional Human Resources Manager, and Jon Young. Due to NAPA's efficient business processes, the company was able to leverage their operations to donate a large volume of high-quality supplies.

For the WTHS Automotive Program, this donation is transformative. The program can now realign its projected spending, freeing up funds that would have been used for these consumable materials and allocating them toward other critical needs, such as automotive parts for complex repairs and projects.

The school's administration expressed gratitude, stating, "This generous donation from NAPA is invaluable and will truly allow our Auto Program to 'level up.' It provides our students with the top-tier products they need to train effectively while allowing us to invest in other areas of the curriculum. We thank Christy, Bill, Jon, and the entire NAPA organization for their support."
